Emergency Minister:  Protecting civilians is a top priority during firefighting efforts

Damascus, SANA – Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed al-Saleh, stressed Sunday that protecting civilians represents the top priority in response efforts to extinguish the fires on the Syrian coast, noting that civil defense teams are doing their utmost to ensure the safety of residents.

“No civilian injuries have been reported so far,” Al-Saleh said in a statement to SANA’s reporter, emphasizing that firefighting operations are ongoing around the clock at a high pace to combat the fires and attempt to surround them, with the participation of more than 100 civil defense teams, including teams from Turkey and Jordan, within the framework of cooperation aimed at enhancing rapid response capabilities and containing the emergency situation taking place in the region.
