Idleb Internal Security Command arrests former colonel accused of war crimes

Idleb, SANA-The Internal Security Command in Idleb Province successfully carried out a security operation that led to the arrest of former Colonel Ziad Kokash, who is accused of committing war crimes and human rights violations against Syrians. He has been referred to the competent judiciary for appropriate legal action.

Kokash is reported to have played a key role in suppressing demonstrators at the onset of the Syrian revolution. He later assumed command of several strategic checkpoints at the entrances to Hama Province before retiring in 2016. Following his retirement, he reportedly joined the 25th Division under Suhail al-Hassan and participated in organizing military campaigns targeting rebellious areas.
