Turkish Finance Minister stresses the need to lift sanctions on Syria

Turkish Finance Minister stresses the need to lift sanctions on Syria

Washington, SANA-Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek stressed the need to lift sanctions imposed on Syria.

Anadolu Agency quoted the Turkish Treasury and Finance Ministry as saying in a statement”Simsek stressed the need to lift sanctions on Syria during a meeting with his US counterpart, Scott Bessent.”

The statement added that the meeting took place on the sidelines of the Turkish Treasury Minister’s participation in the 2025 spring meetings of the G20, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank in the US.

The ministry also clarified that the two ministers discussed steps that could be taken to establish regional peace and stability.
