U.S. Senator calls for easing sanctions on Syria

Washington, SANA- U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen has urged the American administration to ease the sanctions imposed on Syria in the short term.

In statements reported by Al Jazeera via Telegram, Shaheen said, “I have sent a letter to the Secretaries of State and Treasury to remove obstacles to cooperation with the Syrian government.”

She added, “I urge the U.S. administration to expedite the reduction of sanctions risks on vital sectors in Syria and call for expanding the temporary exemptions from sanctions on Syria.”

The U.S. senator emphasized that easing sanctions on Syria would help prevent instability, arguing that such measures would create the necessary conditions to advance American interests.
