Italy allocates €68 Million aid to Syria

Rome,SANA-Italy on Thursday has allocated approximately €68 million to finance humanitarian projects and the reconstruction and rehabilitation of infrastructure in Syria.

Reuters reported that Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, during a parliamentary hearing informed lawmakers that approximately €68 million has been allocated to Syria.

 He added that “an initial package has been allocated to humanitarian initiatives in the hospital, health, and infrastructure sectors, and to strengthening food supply chains.”

Tajani added, “This is crucial to supporting the transitional process in Damascus,” noting that his country intends to organize a business forum aimed at rebuilding Syria and that it will launch new cooperation projects in the coming weeks.

European Union countries pledged €5,8 billion aid to Syria during the ninth Brussels Donors’ Conference on Syria, held on the 17th of this month.
