German Foreign Ministry Spokesperson: Suspending EU Sanctions Provides Space to Support

Berlin, SANA- Annika Clasen-Edris, Spokesperson for the German Foreign Office for the Middle East and North Africa, affirmed that the European Union’s decision to suspend some sanctions imposed on Syria provides space to support the Syrian people.

“The European Union has decided to suspend sanctions on Syria in the areas of energy, aviation and finance, and thus we are providing a large space for recovery and support for the Syrian people,” Edris said in a post on her official account on the X platform.

Edris added: “Germany had called for and pushed for this step, and thus the European Union shows its unity and determination in an important political file.”
