France and EU discuss measures to ease sanctions against Syria

Brussels, SANA- French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot announced on Monday that European Union will lift some sanctions against Syria.

‘’we are going to decide today to lift, to suspend, certain sanctions that had applied to the energy and transport sectors and to financial institutions that were key to the financial stabilization of the country,” Barrot said after arrival at the EU meeting in Brussels.

In turn, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas expressed hope from EU members to agree to a “step-for-step approach” to sanctions relief for Syria.
