Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed al-Saleh met on Sunday with Farouk Bilal, head of the Syrian American Council, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation on environmental and volunteer initiatives, including the rehabilitation of damaged forests and the development of volunteer programs connecting Syrian communities abroad with local societies.
Al-Saleh said the ministry places special emphasis on engaging Syrian professionals living overseas, describing volunteerism as a cornerstone of national recovery efforts, particularly in the environmental and humanitarian sectors. He added that cooperation with the Syrian American Council represents “a qualitative step” toward fostering cross-border community partnerships.
For his part, Bilal reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to supporting initiatives that benefit the country, stressing that one of its main priorities is to strengthen ties between Syrian expatriate communities and national institutions to help build a sustainable future for all Syrians.
The Syrian American Council is among the most prominent organizations representing Syrian communities in the United States. It supports development and humanitarian projects in Syria through volunteer and training programs.
