Damascus, Oct. 4 (SANA) Damascus International Airport handled nearly 230,000 passengers on 2,022 flights in September, with 17 airlines operating at the airport during the month, Syria’s General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport said on Sunday.
The airport recorded a total of 229,693 passengers, including 98,693 arrivals and 131,000 departures, the authority said.
Separately, 19,951 aircraft transited Syrian airspace during September, according to the authority.
The figures come after the civil aviation authority announced on Sept. 24 that it had completed flight testing and calibration of modern air navigation systems at Damascus and Aleppo international airports.
The new equipment entered service in accordance with approved technical and operational requirements, the authority said.
