Phnom Penh, Sept. 28 (SANA) Syrian customs officials have taken part in an international training course in Cambodia focused on monitoring chemical shipments and strengthening border controls, the General Authority for Ports and Customs said.
The course, organized by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in Phnom Penh, covered customs inspections, risk management and the safe handling of chemical shipments.
The authority said the training was designed to help customs personnel identify and manage risks while protecting workers and facilities and allowing legitimate trade to move efficiently.
Syrian participants also exchanged expertise with international specialists and reviewed tools and practices used in chemical shipment controls, according to the authority.
It said the experience would be used to improve customs procedures and coordination among relevant agencies in Syria.
The participation is part of efforts to strengthen the skills of Syrian customs personnel and expand cooperation with specialized international organizations, the authority said.
