Damascus, Sept. 23 (SANA) The CargoSyr 2026 International Transport, Shipping and Logistics Exhibition and Forum concluded Tuesday evening at the Damascus Fairgrounds after three days of local, Arab and international participation and a strong turnout by businesspeople, investors and industry specialists.
Anas Dhabian, general manager of Masarat Exhibitions and Conferences, told SANA that the event recorded positive results on several levels, with attendance exceeding 4,500 visitors, including specialists, investors and business leaders.
Contracts signed, bilateral meetings held
Dhabian said the exhibition saw deals, contracts and agreements signed in the aviation sector between local and regional companies and international entities, in addition to agreements at the ministerial level.
He said bilateral meetings were held between Syrian ministerial officials and participating Arab and international delegations, including representatives from Saudi Arabia and Vietnam.
Field visits were organized to introduce visiting delegations to a number of major development projects in Syria.
He added that visitors’ inquiries were highly specialized and detailed, reflecting strong interest in the transport, shipping and logistics sector and the opportunities available within it.
Dhabian said preparations were already underway for the next edition of the exhibition, scheduled to open on Sept. 20, 2027, with an expanded vision and a newly developed identity.
Exploring investment opportunities and business cooperation
Osama Sateh, business development and public relations adviser at Fly Cham Airlines, said CargoSyr 2026 served as a specialized platform bringing together professionals from the freight, transit and logistics sectors.
Sateh said the growth of air cargo activity alongside the reconstruction process increased the importance of taking part in such economic forums.
He said Fly Cham’s participation enabled the company to expand its network of contacts with airport logistics providers and similar companies, while exploring investment opportunities and potential business partnerships.
Sateh said the company’s participation highlighted its role not only as a passenger carrier but as an active operator in the transport of goods and air cargo through Damascus and Aleppo international airports to more than 13 international destinations.
That role, he said, supports supply-chain efficiency and helps accelerate commercial operations.
Supporting economic recovery and reconstruction
Speaking about his participation in panel discussions held alongside the forum, Sateh said the sessions highlighted the role of the private sector and air transport in supporting Syria’s economic recovery and reconstruction.
He said private companies work alongside national freight operators and official bodies to meet market needs and the growing requirements of regional and international companies.
Sateh added that Fly Cham is committed to applying international standards for transport safety and security, packaging and environmental protection, with the aim of providing competitive services and improving the efficiency of air cargo operations amid the current economic opening.
Latest freight and energy solutions
Visitor Bahaa Diab said he came to the exhibition to learn about the latest products and technologies, particularly in freight and energy, and to explore solutions these sectors could provide in the future.
Diab said the exhibition had attracted a good public turnout and had shown noticeable development from one edition to another, with active attendance since its opening.
He said that although he works in the events and celebrations sector, he has a particular interest in energy, freight and modern technologies.
Learning about Syria’s freight sector Visitor Moataz Kousa said his visit aimed to learn more about companies operating in maritime, air and land freight, as well as customs-clearance procedures and the mechanisms used to transport goods within Syria and to other countries.
Kousa said the exhibition played an important role in introducing visitors to the freight sector and related services.
He added that the development of trade and the goods and agricultural sectors is closely linked to freight activity, transport systems and the smooth movement of goods between Syrian provinces and between Syria and other countries.
CargoSyr 2026 opened on Sept. 20 and ran for three days, bringing together about 75 companies, government bodies and professional organizations from Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Germany.
Participants were distributed across about 60 pavilions, where they discussed opportunities for cooperation and investment and ways to develop transport and logistics systems.
