Homs, May 19 (SANA) A woman and three children were injured Tuesday when a landmine left behind by the deposed regime exploded while they were collecting scrap metal in al-Sukhna town, eastern Homs countryside.
The victims belong to the al-Kamrawi family and were transferred to hospitals in Homs for treatment, Saher Saghir, head of the Tadmur district, told SANA.
Saghir urged civil associations, the Red Crescent, and civil defense to intensify awareness campaigns and install warning signs to reduce risks.
Unexploded ordnance and remnants of war remain among the most serious threats to civilians in eastern Homs, including shells, detonators, and scattered metal fragments that can explode upon contact. Specialized organizations are needed to clear these hazards and protect residents.
