Tartous, Sept. 4 (SANA) Tartous Governor Ahmad al-Shami met on Friday with a delegation from the Swedish Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) to discuss mechanisms for supporting local communities, strengthening social cohesion and supporting civil peace, in addition to addressing challenges left by the deposed regime.
The two sides reviewed ways to develop cooperation tools among various community components to help consolidate internal stability, according to a statement by Tartous Media Directorate on its Telegram channel.
Commitment to development initiatives
Al-Shami stressed the importance of inclusive dialogue in building a cohesive society, reaffirming the governorate’s commitment to coordinating with all relevant authorities, supporting development initiatives and backing these efforts.
Earlier this week, al-Shami met with representatives of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) to discuss ways to support development projects, boost economic activity and improve livelihoods in the province, in the presence of a number of relevant government institutions directors.
The Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) is the Swedish government agency for peace, security and development. The agency supports international peace operations and development cooperation, providing advisory services, training and dialogue facilitation.
