Erbil, Jan. 30 (SANA) The President of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, welcomed on Friday a newly announced agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), calling it a significant step toward a stable and unified Syria.
In a statement reported by Kurdistan24, Barzani said the deal could help stop fighting, integrate military and administrative institutions, protect the civil and educational rights of Syria’s Kurdish population, and create conditions for displaced people to return to their homes.
“The agreement is an important step toward a peaceful resolution and provides a strong foundation for stability, social cohesion, and coexistence among Syria’s diverse communities,” Barzani said. He expressed hope that the accord would serve as a framework for rebuilding Syria while safeguarding the rights of all citizens and promoting regional security.
Earlier on Friday, the Syrian government announced that it had reached a ceasefire agreement with the SDF as part of the broader deal, which also includes a phased plan to integrate military and administrative forces between the two sides.
