Cairo, Aug. 17 (SANA) Minister of Public Works and Housing Mustafa Abdul Razzaq visited on Monday Egypt’s Urban Development Fund, where he met with its Chairman and Egyptian Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities’ Assistant Khaled Seddik, in the presence of Syrian Ambassador to Egypt Yahya Diab.
The minister and his accompanying delegation reviewed the fund’s experience in upgrading unsafe and informal areas, rehabilitating deteriorating urban areas, developing provincial capitals, managing real estate assets and revitalizing neighborhoods to achieve integrated and sustainable urban development.
During his official visit to Egypt, Abdul Razzaq also met with Egyptian Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Randa el-Menshawy, with Diab and members of the two delegations in attendance.
The meeting addressed ways to strengthen cooperation between Syria and Egypt in housing, planning and urban development, as well as exchange expertise in building and developing cities and new urban communities, housing, and the management of land, utilities and infrastructure.
The meetings focused on expanding cooperation and exchanging expertise in areas relevant to Syria’s housing and urban development needs.
The visit follows a July 28 meeting between Abdel Razzaq and Egyptian Chargé d’Affaires Mohamed el-Fiqi in Damascus to discuss housing and urban development cooperation, where Syria expressed interest in benefiting from Egypt’s experience in establishing new cities and implementing infrastructure projects.
