Damascus, May 25 (SANA) Twenty-one people were injured in fires and traffic accidents responded to by Syrian Civil Defense teams across the country over the past 24 hours, the organization said on Monday.
In a statement posted on Telegram, the Syrian Civil Defense said its teams responded to 11 traffic accidents that left 18 people injured. Seven of the injured received first aid before being transferred to hospitals for treatment, while civilians assisted others at the scene.
The organization urged motorists to reduce speed, ensure vehicles are mechanically safe and avoid distractions such as mobile phone use while driving.
Civil defense teams also responded to 51 fires, including 15 in homes and commercial shops, in addition to separate fires involving dry grass, garbage and electrical wiring.
Three people were injured in the fires and taken to hospital for treatment, while the remaining damage was limited to material losses, according to the statement.
The Syrian Civil Defense warned residents against lighting fires in forests and agricultural areas or throwing cigarette butts and glass bottles along roadsides, particularly near crops and wooded areas.
On Saturday, three people were killed and 15 others injured in separate traffic accidents and fires across Syria, according to the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management.
