Israeli occupation forces intensify incursions in Yarmouk Basin - SANA

Daraa, July 27 (SANA) Israeli occupation forces stationed at al-Jazirah military barracks opened heavy fire on Monday evening toward the village of Maariya in the Yarmouk Basin area of the western Daraa countryside.

SANA’s correspondent in Daraa reported that the firing coincided with an incursion by an Israeli occupation force comprising two tanks and two military vehicles into the outskirts of the village of Jamla after advancing along Wadi al-Raqqad road. The two tanks later took up positions near the Majham Room area in the Yarmouk Basin, amid heightened concern among local residents.

Earlier Monday, Israeli occupation forces advanced with several military vehicles toward the village of Maariya, on the road linking the village to the military barracks before reopening the road leading to the village of al-Ardah and conducting searches of several civilian homes.

Israel continues to violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through repeated incursions into southern Syria, raids on civilian homes, arrests, land bulldozing, and artillery shelling.

Syria has repeatedly called for the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation from its territory, stressing that all measures taken by the occupation authorities are null and void and have no legal effect under international law. It has also urged the international community to assume its responsibilities and compel Israel to fully withdraw from southern Syria.
