Daraa, July 26 (SANA)    Israeli occupation forces targeted an electrical transformer in the center of the village of Maariyah in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa countryside on Sunday, knocking it out of service and cutting off electricity to most homes in the village, local sources told SANA.

The targeted transformer supplied power to most of the village’s homes, and its destruction has left a large number of residents without electricity, compounding their suffering amid continued occupation attacks on the area, the sources said.

The targeting occurred as Israeli forces were clearing roads that residents had blocked with stones in an attempt to prevent incursions, particularly those coming from the Al-Jazeera barracks west of the village, the sources added.

Villages in the Yarmouk Basin in western Daraa countryside are witnessing repeated movements and incursions by Israeli occupation forces, accompanied by road-cutting and the establishment of checkpoints, resulting in damage to infrastructure and public and private property, and exacerbating the suffering of residents.

Israel continues to violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through repeated incursions into southern Syria, as well as raids, arrests, land bulldozing and shelling. Syria consistently demands the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from its territory and stresses that all Israeli measures in southern Syria are null and void under international law, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities and compel Israel to withdraw fully from southern Syria.
