Damascus, July 21 (SANA) The Engineering Directorate at Syria’s Ministry of Defense, in cooperation with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and its Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) program, destroyed a cache of landmines and unexploded ordnance collected from the towns of Kanaker, Zakia, Khan al-Shih and Darousha in the western countryside of Damascus.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to remove explosive remnants of war from populated areas, reduce risks to civilians and improve safety in communities affected by years of conflict.

Landmines and unexploded ordnance left behind by the deposed regime continue to endanger civilians and hinder the safe return of displaced people, prompting ongoing clearance efforts by Syrian authorities and international partners.
