Defense Ministry: SDF organization escalates for the third day, army and civilians hit

Damascus, Jan. 6 (SANA) The Media and Communications Directorate at the Ministry of Defense said on Tuesday that SDF organization has continued for the third consecutive day to escalate attacks against army positions and civilians in Aleppo province, northwest Syria.

In a statement to SANA, the directorate said the SDF organization targeted an army position on the outskirts of the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, resulting in the martyrdom of a soldier and wounding five others.

The statement added that the SDF organization also shelled several Aleppo neighborhoods adjacent to areas it controls. The ongoing attacks have killed three civilians and wounded more than 12 others so far, in addition to causing extensive damage to private property, the directorate said.

The Media and Communications Directorate said the army responded by striking the sources of fire and the launch points of drones used by SDF organization, neutralizing a number of them and destroying an ammunition depot.

“The SDF organization once again proves that it does not recognize the March 10 Agreement and is trying to derail it and drag the army into an open battle of its choosing.” the directorate said.

As part of SDF organization ongoing escalation against army positions across various regions of the country, yesterday the organization targeted a military police checkpoint near army deployment points near Deir Hafer town, east of Aleppo province, using drones. The attack resulted in the injury of three soldiers and damage to two military police vehicles.
