Quneitra, July 15 (SANA) Israeli occupation forces entered a village in Syria’s southern Quneitra province on Wednesday, briefly detaining a resident after setting up a temporary checkpoint before withdrawing from the area.
SANA’s Reporter in the province said the forces entered the village of al-Muallaqah, established a checkpoint, searched passersby and detained one person. The detainee was released several hours after the troops withdrew.
The incursion followed similar operations on Tuesday in the villages of Maariyah in the western countryside of Daraa province and al-Basali in southern Quneitra.
Israel has continued military incursions into southern Syria in violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, with operations including raids, arrests, land bulldozing and shelling.
Syria has repeatedly called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from its territory, stressing that Israeli measures in the area are null and void under international law, and has urged the international community to press Israel to withdraw fully from southern Syria.
