Homs, June 27 (SANA) A child was killed and two others were injured on Saturday after a landmine left behind by the deposed regime exploded in the al-Sukhnah area of eastern Homs countryside.
Dr. Walid Odeh, director of Palmyra National Hospital, told SANA that the explosion occurred in the Rawd al-Wahsh area, northwest of al-Sukhnah. One child was killed, while two others sustained minor injuries.
Odeh said the injured children were in stable condition and had been transferred to al-Walid Hospitalin Homs city for further treatment and orthopedic care.
Explosive remnants of war remain one of the most serious threats facing civilians in eastern Homs countryside. The area is contaminated with unexploded ordnance, detonators, and other hazardous munitions that can explode if disturbed, underscoring the need for specialized mine-clearance efforts to protect civilians.
