President Ahmed al-Sharaa and President Donald Trump discuss Syria’s future during a joint appearance at the NATO Summit - SANA

Ankara, July 8 (SANA) President Ahmad al-Sharaa said the historic decision by US President Donald Trump to lift sanctions on Syria, together with the support of regional partners, particularly Türkiye and the Gulf states, is deeply appreciated by the Syrian people.

Speaking at a joint press conference with President Trump on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Ankara on Wednesday, President al-Sharaa said Syria had achieved a major milestone by liberating the country, bringing down the ousted regime and reunifying the nation, stressing that these achievements were made possible by the Syrian people.

For his part, President Trump said the decision to lift sanctions had provided a significant boost to Syria, adding that developments in the country are progressing rapidly.

The joint press conference followed President al-Sharaa’s arrival at the Turkish capital earlier Wednesday, coinciding with the second day of the 36th NATO Summit.
