Washington, June 9 (SANA) Syrian Energy Minister Mohammad al-Bashir met his Egyptian counterpart, Karim Badawi, on Tuesday to discuss expanding cooperation in the energy sector during the Global Energy Forum in Washington.
The talks focused on opportunities for investment and reconstruction projects in Syria, as well as prospects for future Syrian-Egyptian partnerships in energy and infrastructure, according to Syria’s Ministry of Energy.
In a statement posted on Telegram, the ministry said the two ministers reviewed ways to support development efforts and encourage investment in projects aimed at rehabilitating and upgrading energy infrastructure.
The two sides also agreed to continue discussions on joint development projects that could strengthen energy infrastructure and create investment opportunities benefiting both countries, the ministry said.
Al-Bashir is leading the Syrian delegation participating in the forum in the U.S. capital. On Monday, he met U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright to discuss bilateral cooperation and investment opportunities for American companies in Syria’s energy and infrastructure sectors.
