Damascus, Syria, June 9 (SANA) Syrian Minister of Information Khaled Zaarour met with Director-General of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) Abdul Rahim Suleiman in Damascus to discuss ways to strengthen the existing strategic partnership between Syria’s official media institutions and the union.
The meeting was attended by Director-General of the General Organization of Radio and Television Alaa Barsilo.
According to a statement published Monday by the Ministry of Information on its Telegram channel, the discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between Syria’s state media institutions and ASBU, as well as exploring opportunities to benefit from the union’s engineering systems and training programs to further develop the skills of Syrian media professionals.
ASBU is a professional Arab organization established under Arab League Resolution No. 1100 on Oct. 15, 1955, in Khartoum. The union officially began operations on Feb. 9, 1969, and is headquartered in Tunis.
The organization aims to strengthen ties and promote cooperation among Arab radio and television broadcasters while supporting the development of audiovisual production across the Arab world.
