Raqqa, June 3 (SANA) Five people were killed and three others injured in a traffic accident on Wednesday on the Tabqa–Ithriyah road south of Tabqa in Raqqa province, according to Syrian Civil Defense officials.
Preliminary findings indicate that a pickup truck collided with another vehicle after one of the drivers lost control due to excessive speed, the Civil Defense said.
Emergency and rescue teams from the Raqqa Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate responded to the scene and recovered four bodies trapped inside one of the vehicles using hydraulic rescue equipment. The victims were transferred to Tabqa Hospital.
The three injured were taken by local residents to Salamiyah Hospital for treatment before rescue teams arrived, the Civil Defense added.
Road accidents remain a recurring concern on major highways across Syria, often linked to speeding and failure to follow traffic safety regulations, resulting in significant human losses.
