Damascus, May 17 (SANA) Head of the National Commission for Transitional Justice Abdul Basit Abdul Latif discussed Sunday with Executive Director of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hadi bin Ali al-Yami, ways to strengthen joint cooperation in supporting the transitional justice process.
The two sides discussed during the meeting, held at the commission’s headquarters in Damascus, mechanisms for exchanging expertise in the field of human rights protection, the possibility of concluding cooperation agreements, and organizing joint training workshops during the coming phase.
The discussions focused on enhancing institutional capacities and developing work related to transitional justice files.
Abdul Latif stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation with regional and international human rights institutions and organizations in a way that supports victims’ rights and reinforces paths of truth, accountability, and peacebuilding.
This meeting is part of a diplomatic and legal strategy by the National Authority for Transitional Justice to engage with Arab, Islamic, and Western nations, alongside UN and regional organizations. By integrating international human rights standards with localized legal procedures, the Authority aims to ensure a comprehensive, transparent, and sustainable transitional justice model in Syria.
