Jeddah/Mecca, May 13 (SANA) The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Muslim World League on Wednesday condemned an infiltration attempt by an armed group linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard targeting Bubiyan Island.
In a statement published on its official website, the OIC General Secretariat said the incident represented “a blatant violation” of Kuwait’s sovereignty and security, as well as international law and the United Nations Charter.
The organization called for an immediate halt to actions that threaten regional security and stability and urged adherence to the principles of good-neighborly relations.
The OIC also reaffirmed its full solidarity with Kuwait in preserving the country’s sovereignty, security and stability.
In a separate statement, Muslim World League Secretary-General Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa condemned the alleged infiltration attempt and renewed calls for an immediate end to hostile acts that, he said, undermine regional stability and de-escalation efforts.
Al-Issa stressed the league’s support for measures taken by Kuwait to safeguard its security, sovereignty and the safety of citizens and residents.
Kuwait’s Interior Ministry said Tuesday that investigations into a group arrested after attempting to enter the country by sea showed that the suspects were affiliated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.
According to the ministry, the group had been tasked with infiltrating Bubiyan Island using a fishing boat allegedly rented specifically to carry out hostile activities targeting Kuwait.
