Damascus, May 15 (SANA) The Ministry of Interior announced Friday the arrest of the head of the raid unit at the notorious State Security Branch and al-Khatib Branch of the ousted regime in the city of Homs, central western Syria.
In a statement published on Telegram, the ministry said Internal Security Forces arrested Omar Ahmad al-Matar, who previously served as a captain and head of the raid division at the State Security Branch and al-Khatib Branch within the security apparatus of the ousted regime.
The ministry said the arrest is a part of efforts by the authorities to pursue and hold accountable those involved in crimes and violations against the Syrian people.
On April 24, Syrian authorities announced the arrest of Amjad Youssef who is the main preparator of al-Tadamon massacre, and one of Syria’s most wanted criminals for crimes and violations against humanity.
