Washington, May 10 (SANA) US Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack said that the historic transition underway in Syria is entering a new phase focused on enhancing stability, noting that continued communication channels between the Syrian government and Syrian Democratic Forces reflect the importance of constructive dialogue at this stage.
In a post on the platform X on Sunday, Barrack said the sustained engagement between Damascus and the SDF highlights the value of constructive dialogue and a common commitment to a stable, peaceful, and unified Syria for all its people.
Barrack’s remarks came in comment on the release on Friday of 232 individuals affiliated with SDF in Hasakah province, carried out through efforts of the presidential team tasked with implementing the January 29 agreement between the Syrian government and SDF, in coordination with the Internal Security Command.
The Syrian government had announced on Jan. 29 a comprehensive agreement with SDF, including a ceasefire, the start of a phased integration process for military and administrative structures, the entry of security forces into the centers of Hasakah and Qamishli, and the transfer of all civil institutions, government facilities, and border crossings to state control.
