Damascus, May 6 (SANA) Syria’s Higher Committee for People’s Assembly Elections announced the formation of judicial subcommittees for constituencies in Hasakah and Aleppo provinces as preparations continue for upcoming parliamentary elections.
Under Decision No. 16 of 2026, the committee established a judicial panel for the constituencies of Hasakah, al-Malikiyah and Qamishli, according to a statement published on the committee’s Telegram channel.
The committee also issued Decision No. 17 of 2026 establishing a judicial panel for the Ain al-Arab constituency in Aleppo province.
The judicial committees will oversee objections and appeals related to People’s Assembly elections in their respective constituencies in accordance with Syria’s electoral procedures and legal framework.
The measures are part of preparations to complete Syria’s parliamentary elections, which were held in most provinces on Oct. 5, 2025. The northeastern regions were later brought back under state administration under an agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF that included the restoration of state institutions and broader integration arrangements.
The decisions were issued under the constitutional declaration and related legislative decrees as part of ongoing administrative and legal preparations for the electoral process.
