Daraa, March 12 (SANA) A child was killed and his father wounded Wednesday when a landmine left over from the deposed regime exploded in farmland near the town of al-Karak al-Sharqi in eastern Daraa countryside, local authorities said.
The Syrian Civil Defense said in a statement posted on its Telegram channel Thursday that civilians initially assisted the injured father before emergency teams transferred him from a medical center in the town of al-Jeezah to Daraa National Hospital for further treatment.
Explosive remnants of war and landmines continue to pose a serious threat to civilians across large parts of Syria. Such devices frequently cause deaths and severe injuries, while also disrupting agricultural activity and delaying the return of displaced residents to their homes.
