Riyadh, May 4 (SANA) A delegation from the Syrian Arab Standards and Metrology Organization (SASMO), led by Director General Yaser Alaiwi, met Monday with the management of GCC LAB in Saudi Arabia — a specialized center for testing, inspection, and calibration services — to discuss ways of strengthening joint cooperation, particularly in developing testing and calibration systems and exchanging technical expertise.
The Ministry of Economy and Industry said via its official Telegram channel that the delegation’s visit aimed to review the center’s advanced capabilities, including its modern infrastructure, high-precision technical equipment, operational mechanisms, and accreditation systems that ensure the reliability of results and reinforce market confidence in products.
Alaiwi said the visit falls within the organization’s broader drive to draw on leading regional experiences and develop Syria‘s quality infrastructure, highlighting the pivotal role of laboratories in supporting the competitiveness of national products.
Engineer Thraa Qubaily, a member of the Syrian delegation, stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in training and capacity-building.
The visit comes as Syria’s quality-focused institutions move to upgrade their technical infrastructure and align with international standards in testing and calibration, with the aim of improving the quality of national products and enhancing their competitiveness in regional and global markets.
GCC LAB is a leading Saudi facility specializing in testing, inspection, and calibration services, and is among the largest centers of its kind in the region. Founded in 2016, it provides a range of technical services supporting national industry and ensuring quality and safety standards, including electrical equipment testing, renewable energy services, calibration and inspection, training and accreditation, and petroleum product testing.
