Rome, April 25 (SANA)– Syria’s Minister of Agriculture, Amjad Badr discussed on Saturday with University of Perugia’s Rector, Professor Massimiliano Marianelli, ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the fields of scientific research in agriculture and the exchange of academic expertise.
Both sides stressed the importance of building strategic partnerships between academic and research institutions in Syria and Italy in areas related to food security and modern agricultural technologies.
Ministry of Agriculture said on its Telegram channel on Saturday, that Minister Badr and the accompanying Syrian delegation toured the university during the visit and viewed the rare and valuable manuscripts and books housed in its historic library, some of which date back more than a thousand years.
The delegation also visited the headquarters of TreValli, an Italian company specializing in the production of milk and dairy products, where they reviewed the company’s workflow, laboratory facilities, and operating methods.
Syrian delegation, headed by Minister Badr, participated last Monday in the 38th session of the Near East Regional Conference, held at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome.
