Presidency of the Republic issues a statement on the latest developments in the agreement with the leadership of the "SDF"

Damascus, SANA- Presidency of the Republic issued on Sunday, a statement about developments in the agreement with the leadership of “SDF”.

The statement published by the presidency on its Telegram channel read:

The recent agreement between President Ahmad al-Sharaa and the SDF leadership represented a positive step toward calm and openness to a comprehensive national solution.

However, recent moves and statements by the SDF leadership, calling for federalism and establishing a separate reality on the ground, clearly contradict the content of the agreement and threaten the country’s unity and territorial integrity.

Accordingly, we affirm the following: The agreement was a constructive step if implemented in a comprehensive national spirit, free from private or exclusionary projects.

We clearly reject any attempts to impose a divisive reality or establish separate entities under the guise of federalism or self-administration without comprehensive national consensus.

The unity of Syria, both its territory and its people, is a red line, and any transgression thereof constitutes a departure from the national unity and an attack on Syria’s unified identity.

We express our deep concern about practices that indicate dangerous trends toward demographic change in some areas, threatening the Syrian social fabric and undermining the prospects for a comprehensive national solution.

We warn against disrupting the work of Syrian state institutions in areas controlled by the SDF, restricting citizens’ access to their services, and monopolizing national resources and exploiting them outside the framework of the state, which contributes to deepening divisions and threatening national sovereignty.

The SDF leadership cannot monopolize the decision-making process in the northeastern region of Syria, as authentic components such as Arabs, Kurds, Christians, and others coexist.
Confiscating the decision of any component and monopolizing its representation is unacceptable, as there is no stability or future without a true partnership and fair representation of all parties.

We affirm that the rights of our Kurdish brothers, like all components of the Syrian people, are protected and preserved within the framework of a single Syrian state, on the basis of full citizenship and equality before the law, without the need for any external interference or foreign guardianship.

We call on the agreement partners, led by “SDF”, to sincerely adhere to the concluded agreement and give priority to the supreme national interest over any narrow or external calculations.

In conclusion, we reiterate our firm position that the solution in Syria can only be Syrian, national, and comprehensive, based on the will of the people, preserving the country’s unity and sovereignty, and rejecting any form of foreign tutelage or hegemony.
