Damascus, Dec. 22 (SANA) Syrian Minister of Agriculture Amjad Badr discussed on Monday with Secretary-General of the Arab Union of Agricultural Engineers Ali Khalaf Abu Nuqta ways to strengthen cooperation aimed at advancing the agricultural sector and rehabilitating and supporting the union’s headquarters in Damascus.
During the meeting, held at the Ministry of Agriculture building in Damascus, Minister Badr said Syria is adopting a new approach to develop unions affiliated with the ministry, making them more effective and practical through training, qualification programs and specialized workshops.
The minister highlighted the important role of international organizations operating in the agricultural sector, noting their contribution to providing support and assistance in preparing annual programs that draw on expertise across various fields, in cooperation with the Syrian Agricultural Engineers Syndicate.
Discussions also addressed the importance of developing comprehensive programs for engineers working in the agricultural sector, which would help promote the exchange of ideas, expertise and skills, and contribute to building the technical capacities required to carry out agricultural work efficiently.
For his part, Abu Nuqta expressed appreciation for the role played by the Ministry of Agriculture in supporting new projects. He said the work plan for the coming phase focuses on preparing and qualifying agricultural engineering students and newly graduated engineers to enable them to keep pace with developments in the agricultural sector.
The Arab Union of Agricultural Engineers is a professional Arab organization established in 1968 under the umbrella of the League of Arab States. It aims to contribute to Arab economic integration toward economic unity and to support sustainable agricultural development across the Arab region.
