Hama, April 11 (SANA) Community leaders from the towns of Al-Suqaylabiyah and Qalaat al-Madiq in western Hama countryside reached a final reconciliation agreement on Saturday, in a step seen as reinforcing stability and coexistence in the area.
The agreement was concluded during a formal session attended by a committee tasked with facilitating the settlement, headed by Al-Ghab region Director Fayez Lattouf.
The talks brought together local dignitaries and elders from both communities, culminating in a mutually agreed settlement document.
According to the agreement, a committee will be formed under the supervision of the Hama governorate to assess the damages resulting from the recent incident and ensure appropriate material and moral compensation for those affected.
Both sides also pledged to prevent any recurrence of similar incidents, while agreeing to withdraw all legal complaints related to the dispute once compensation is completed.
The settlement further includes a commitment to respect the customs, traditions, and social particularities of both communities, in a way that promotes mutual understanding and long-term stability.
The agreement follows a group altercation that took place on March 27 in al-Suqaylabiyah, involving young men from within the town and neighboring areas, including Qalaat al-Madiq.
The dispute, which reportedly escalated from a local confrontation, briefly raised tensions before internal security forces intervened and contained the situation.
