Minister Hind Kabawat meets officials and civil society representatives in Deir Ezzor to discuss support for people with disabilities and the needs of returning families - SANA

Deir Ezzor, April 7 (SANA) – Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Kabawat discussed on Tuesday support for people with disabilities and the challenges facing families returning to Deir Ezzor during a meeting with Governor Ghassan al-Sayyed Ahmad and representatives of civil society and international organizations.

The meeting addressed several issues affecting the local community, particularly the difficulties facing returnees amid widespread destruction in the province and the loss of homes by many residents.

Participants also reviewed the role of civil associations in improving social conditions and stressed the importance of coordination between government bodies, local organizations and international partners. Discussions included proposals to establish care homes for the elderly and orphans, expand mine-removal operations to ensure public safety, and create job opportunities aligned with labor market needs.

Kabawat said the province requires a wide range of development projects to support recovery, noting that the ministry is working to implement initiatives tailored to the needs of the region while strengthening cooperation with local authorities and international organizations.

Local officials also presented proposals for establishing rural development centers and activating branch offices across the province to improve service delivery.

Representatives of civil society organizations highlighted the importance of addressing issues such as begging, creating shelters for vulnerable children and people with disabilities, and holding regular coordination meetings to follow up on local needs.

The visit comes as part of broader government and international efforts to support recovery and improve services in Deir Ezzor following the province’s liberation.
