Homs, March 29 (SANA) The Media and Communication Directorate at the Ministry of Defense announced on that units of the Syrian Arab Army discovered a sophisticated tunnel extending between Syrian and Lebanese territories. The discovery occurred during routine operations to secure the border zones in near Hawsh al-Sayyid Ali village, located in the western countryside of Homs.
According to the Ministry, the tunnel was specifically prepared and utilized by Lebanese militias for illegal smuggling operations. Following the discovery, specialized authorities moved in to permanently seal the passage and implement the necessary security measures to prevent further breaches in the sector.
This operation is part of an ongoing military effort to tighten border security and eliminate illegal supply lines used by non-state actors. The western Homs countryside has seen increased vigilance by the Syrian Arab Army to curb the movement of contraband and unauthorized personnel across the porous frontier with Lebanon.
