Damascus, Mar 14 (SANA) The Syrian Arab Army has established control on the Rmeilan military base in the northwestern countryside of Hasakah province following the withdrawal of International Coalition forces, Media and Communication Department at the Ministry of Defense announced.
The operation was carried out after prior coordination with the United States, according to the ministry.
The takeover of Rmeilan comes after Syrian forces recently regained control of the al-Shaddadi base in southern Hasakah and the al-Tanf military base in the southeast of the country in similar moves conducted in mid-February.
Authorities said the measures strengthen the Syrian state’s sovereignty over its territory and help facilitate the reactivation of state institutions in the liberated areas.
