Hama, March 1 (SANA) Syria’s Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management on Sunday launched a debris-removal campaign in the Hama countryside aimed at accelerating recovery efforts and reopening key roads.
The project, carried out in coordination with Hama governorate, targets the towns of Mhardeh, Suran, al-Suqaylabiyah and Salamiyah, the ministry said in a statement.
The operation is expected to clear more than half a million cubic meters of debris from main and secondary roads, public squares and government buildings.
Earlier in February, the ministry launched a wide-ranging campaign to remove debris in parts of the Idlib countryside as part of a national recovery plan. That project aims to remove at least 600,000 cubic meters of debris from the towns of ,Khan Sheikhoun Maaret al-Numan and Jisr al-Shughour, areas that sustained significant damage during years of war.
The initiatives are part of the Syrian government’s efforts to restore infrastructure and create conditions for displaced residents to return.
