Damascus, Feb. 20 (SANA) — Syria’s Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Directorate launched intensive market inspections Friday, targeting food shops and bakeries as Ramadan approaches, to ensure product safety and safeguard public health.
The Ministry of Economy and Industry said the raids uncovered violations including failure to meet health standards and use of unfit dough. Offenders face supply enforcement actions.
Authorities stressed these efforts will continue to verify compliance with Syrian quality specs, especially during the holy month when demand peaks. Legal steps will target any breaches.
Earlier this week, the directorate shut down several meat outlets across the city for serious regulatory violations and health risks.
