Munich, Feb. 14 (SANA) – Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani met with Nechirvan Barzani, President of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, on Saturday to discuss regional developments and ways to strengthen bilateral coordination.
During the meeting on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, both sides emphasized that Syria’s stability is essential for the broader stability of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its Telegram channel.
Barzani reaffirmed his support for Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, praising recent reform measures and Presidential Decree 13. He stressed that political decisions in Syria are made in Damascus and reiterated commitment to strengthening state institutions.
The meeting also explored opportunities to expand economic and development cooperation, including reconstruction efforts and initiatives to promote trade and investment ties.
