Damascus Countryside, Feb. 12 (SANA) Syrian border guard forces foiled a drug smuggling attempt in the Yabroud area along the Syrian-Lebanese border, seizing large quantities of narcotics as part of ongoing efforts to combat trafficking and safeguard community security.
According to an official statement, the seized materials included 15,000 narcotic pills, 500 slabs of hashish, in addition to other quantities of various types of cannabis derivatives.
The operation comes within the framework of intensified security measures undertaken by border guard units to confront cross-border smuggling networks and curb the flow of illicit substances that threaten public health and social stability.
Authorities affirmed that the confiscated drugs were secured and the necessary legal procedures initiated in coordination with the competent judicial bodies.
