Daraa, Feb. 8 (SANA) – Doctors Without Borders (MSF) distributed around 3,000 heaters on Sunday to displaced families residing in temporary shelters in Izraa, Sheikh Miskin, Mahja, Namer, and Busra al‑Harir in rural Daraa, in coordination with Sweida Governorate. The assistance aims to meet essential winter needs for families who recently arrived from Sweida.
Ez‑Eddin Adam Abdelrahim, field coordinator with MSF’s response team, said the organization has been supporting displaced families from Sweida living in various areas of rural Daraa since last year. He noted that some locations are served through mobile teams providing medical, humanitarian, and psychosocial support.
Abdelrahim added that 3,000 heaters were distributed to 3,000 families in the targeted areas, following a similar distribution earlier in the towns of al‑Harak and Nahta. He said MSF responds to emergency needs by securing essential supplies in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the governorates of Sweida and Daraa, while conducting continuous assessments to ensure services reach any area requiring support.
Mohammad Awad, one of the displaced residents in Izraa, said the heaters were delivered to families in the shelter center, adding that many displaced people hope for additional humanitarian assistance until they can return home safely with the support of Sweida Governorate and relevant authorities.
The distribution is part of a broader response plan implemented by government institutions, local associations, and humanitarian organizations to support families displaced from Sweida and currently residing in temporary shelters in rural Daraa.
