Damascus, Feb. 4 (SANA) The Syrian Ministry of Education has begun implementing an emergency plan to rehabilitate the education sector in the provinces of Raqqa, Deir Ezzor and Hasakah, as well as the areas of Deir Hafer and Maskanah in the Aleppo countryside.
The plan aims to bridge educational gaps and ensure the return of students and teachers to schools. According to Hamza Houriyeh, head of the Ministry’s Media Department, the plan is based on three main pillars: rehabilitating school infrastructure, securing essential supplies and material needs such as textbooks, furniture and equipment, and preparing a suitable school environment capable of accommodating students and teachers.
In a statement to SANA, Houriyeh said that the provision of basic supplies to schools in the Aleppo countryside, Raqqa and Deir Ezzor has been completed. He added that the first shipment out of 700,000 textbooks has arrived in accordance with the approved distribution plan.
Houriyeh also noted that the ministry is working to enroll unregistered students and provide them with a remedial curriculum under Category B programs.
He stressed that these supportive measures contribute to rebuilding community development in the targeted areas and represent a fundamental step toward restoring the educational process in the recently liberated regions, while ensuring students’ right to stable, quality education.
After the government regained control of the areas from the SDF, the Ministry of Education began implementing urgent and practical measures to address the educational situation in the provinces of Raqqa, Hasakah and Deir Ezzor.
