Amman, Feb. 3 (SANA) — Jordan’s King Abdullah II on Tuesday reaffirmed the importance of continued international support for communities hosting refugees and stressed the need to facilitate safe and voluntary returns for Syrian refugees.
According to Petra news agency, the remarks came during the King’s meeting in Amman with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Barham Salih.
In a separate meeting, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi underlined that supporting Syria and advancing reconstruction efforts are essential to creating conditions for voluntary refugee returns and strengthening regional security and stability.
Safadi called for sustained cooperation among donor states, host countries, and relevant UN agencies to assist Syrian refugees until they are able to return home. He also stressed the need to continue backing Syria’s stability and reconstruction process, noting that such efforts would help provide the necessary environment for returns.
On Monday, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Barham Salih said that needs in Syria remain immense, requiring increased international support for recovery efforts.
