Italy welcomes Syrian government–SDF agreement

Rome, Jan. 30 (SANA) Italy welcomed on Friday the agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), reaffirming its commitment to supporting Syria in achieving unity, security, and stability.

“We welcome today’s agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF as an important outcome of the reunification process based on dialogue and recognition of the civil and cultural rights of Syrian Kurds, in accordance with the presidential decree issued on 16 January.” Italy’s Ambassador to Syria, Stefano Ravanian, wrote on platform X.

Earlier today, the Syrian government announced that it had reached a comprehensive agreement with the SDF to implement a ceasefire. The deal includes a phased integration of military and administrative structures between the two sides, the deployment of security forces into the centers of Hasaka and Qamishli, and the transfer of all civil and governmental institutions, crossings, and border points to state authority.
