Lattakia, Jan.28 (SANA) The Internal Security Directorate in Lattakia arrested Ali Aziz Sbeira, one of the most prominent leaders of terrorist cells involved in attacks targeting internal security checkpoints and the Syrian army.

The Ministry of Interior announced via its Telegram channel that “following a precise monitoring and tracking operation, the Internal Security Directorate in Lattakia successfully apprehended Ali Aziz Sbeira, a native of Jableh, who is considered one of the leading figures behind terrorist cells targeting internal security and army positions, as well as arming other terrorist groups. He is directly linked to the criminals Ghiyath Dalla and Brigadier General Nours Makhlouf.”

The ministry stated that initial investigation findings confirmed his involvement in a series of violations against civilians during the era of the deposed regime. His criminal activities began with the outbreak of the Syrian revolution, when he joined the National Defense Militia and took part in suppressing peaceful demonstrations.

In 2014, he enlisted in the Fourth Division and participated in numerous battles alongside the ousted regime, continuing his criminal activities until liberation.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing all individuals proven to be involved in destabilizing security and stability or assaulting citizens, and to bringing them to justice in accordance with legal procedures.
