Information Minister: Fate of journalist Firas al-Barjas remains unknown

Damascus, 25 Jan (SANA) Minister of Information Hamza al-Mustafa announced that the fate of Syrian journalist Firas al-Barjas remains unknown, after his family confirmed that he is not being held in al-Aqtan prison in Raqqa.

Al-Mustafa explained in a post on the “X” platform on Saturday that some sources indicate the SDF transferred al-Barjas to a secret underground prison in the city of Ayn al-Arab/Kobani, after subjecting him to physical and psychological torture.

The SDF organization had arrested al-Barjas on 8 December, claiming he was working with government media outlets. The Ministry of Information held the SDF responsible for his safety and demanded his immediate release, stressing that it will spare no effort to achieve this.
